TUBAC

Just five miles north of Tumacacori is the town of Tubac. Tubac began its life as a vista of Mission Guevavi, also founded by Father Kino. It soon grew to become a mission farm and ranch. It is now a thriving community and a center for art and history. There are some ruins here, though nothing compared to Tumacacori. We explore both the ruins and the bustling downtown. I shoot a few more color pieces, mostly downtown where there is some beautiful artistry to be found. black & white is reserved more for the ruins.

This is the last stop we take photos at. We do pass a more modern cemetery leaving town that John expresses some interest in but, to be honest, I'd met my quota of photos of crosses on this trip. That, and we also needed to head back as it was New Year's Eve and we had dinner plans.

The following morning we climb to the top of Tumamoc Hill as we also did on Christmas day. I think to bring a camera but decide to instead just enjoy the hike and being with my friend for my last full day in Tucson.
