BOTANICAL GARDENS & DOWNTOWN

Botanical gardens can be a treasure trove for photographers, especially for shooting textures. Though Tucson's garden is not vast, it does offer a lot, including a Zen garden. While I continued my new found love of photographing black & white cacti, I also shot my first color pieces. A few (mostly) non-cacti black & white shots also found their way in. There was a trombone hanging against a brick wall I tried my best to do something with, but it wasn't meant to be.

In Tibet I consciously tried to balance more creative shots with more traditional ones. I'm never much for playing the tourist, but then again, when will I ever be in Tibet again? This time I wanted to go fully creative. Another reason for my return to black & white.

From the botanical gardens, we headed downtown. We'd scoped out the area the day after I arrived, only there wasn't any decent light then, so we decided to go back when there was. As it turned out, the light this day was hit-and-miss as there was a storm brewing, but I was able to get in a few assorted shots. These were actually taken in the outskirts of downtown, where the old meets the new.
