A LITTLE LESS BROWN
In the morning after breakfast, I go up to the roof of our hotel and photograph
some of the remnants
on
the hill behind us. I want to hike up to them, but there is no time for that.
We
then
head
over
to
the Sakya
Monastery,
built in 1268. Before the Cultural Revolution, it was one of the largest monasteries
in Tibet.
This is the second time on this trip I have been able to meditate in a monastery
and it is an incredible experience.
While we make our way back to Shigatse, I take a few more photos
in
transit. I have never been anywhere with such a wonderful sky and find
any excuse I can to photograph it. Prayer flags are also becoming a common
attraction.
Finally get a shower in Shigatse. The water coming out of my hair is
decidedly brown. I hang out in the hotel's bar with some of my group
before heading to dinner and then retire to an early night after another
long day of travel.
Incense and candles
Silence engulfed in silence
Offerings abound
