THE RED FORTRESS
The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex of the Moorish rulers of Granada originally completed near the end of the fourteenth century. While predominantly consisting of Islamic architecture, today it can be seen together with Christian 16th century and later architectural interventions in its many buildings and gardens. Here I take an assortment of color
and black & white
photos, paying particular attention to its intricate architectural details.
Its hilltop location offers some nice views of the surrounding area
and its gardens
are sprawling.
The evening finds us back in Madrid, though I do catch one last glimpse of southern Spain during the drive north. A few of us head out for a last dinner together, then it's off to the market for some provisions for the following day's flights. In the morning it's a 5:00 o'clock wake-up call to catch my 6:10 shuttle to the airport. At 6:00 I give the leggy blonde a promised wake-up knock so that she can catch her late morning flight to Estonia, where she'll meet up with her fiance. I, on the other hand, will return to my solitary life in California. Thankfully it's a week before I have to return to work. And there is the next trip to plan for.
