DON JUAN AND DON GIOVANNI WALK IN TO A BAR ...

The evening finds me in Seville, home to many literary characters, including Don Juan, Don Giovanni, and Bizet's Carmen. After settling into my room, I head out once more with the leggy blonde to explore the city. Of course, we take a wrong turn and get lost, though we do eventually find the Cathedral of Seville, which was our intent. I also get in my first photos of the town, which will be more fully explored the following day.

In the morning is the city of Italica, founded in 206 BCE by the Roman general Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus in order to settle Roman soldiers wounded in the Battle of Ilipa. It was also the birthplace of three emporers, including Trajan. The escavated ruins include a residential area along with a Roman theatre.

Late morning finds a return to Seville and its Cathedral, where I take some photos inside and out. At the time of its completion in the 1500s, it supplanted the Hagia Sophia as the largest cathedral in the world and also serves as the burial site of Christopher Columbus. I then snap a few more photos of town while heading back to my hotel for a much needed siesta.
