THE ROAD TO OLLANTAYTAMBO

In the morning we head into the Sacred Valley on our way to Ollantaytambo. Just as we enter the valley, I take some assorted shots. On the way to Pisac we make a detour to a Ccaccaccollo community supported by GAP's Planeterra Foundation. While demonstrating how they achieve their natural dyes, my palm is used to develop a bright red. A faint circular red imprint remains on my palm for several days.

Pisac is divided into two distinct parts: an Inca fortress perched on a mountain spur 600m above a colonial village lying beside the Rio Urubamba. I am in heaven among the ruins and take several color and black & white shots. I also snap a few photos among the marketplace in the village.

The day ends in Ollantaytambo, dominated by a massive Inca fortress above the village, which I photograph in color and black & white. It is an impressive site that commands respect and awe and I am unable to really capture this with a camera. I also take some assorted shots within the village itself.
