OVERNIGHT TO LIMA
I fly to Lima from LAX via El Salvador. It's an overnight flight, though
I do not expect to get much sleep. For some reason I fly out business
class, though my return is economy. Before boarding, I think of the Seinfeld episode
where Jerry flies first class while Elaine is stuck in coach. This turns
out to be a bit of a prophecy. Along with a wide, comfortable seat and
leg room, which I never get in coach, the striking Costa Rican I notice
at the gate is seated besides me. She orders champagne to help her sleep
and is incredibly friendly. We talk for a bit and I begin to wonder why
I'm not heading to Costa Rica. After a while, I do actually get some
sleep and awake with her resting on my arm. I'm
now thinking I should fly business class from this moment on.
Quick layover at the San Salvador airport. A simple rectangular layout
of an airport, with some surprisingly nice shops lining its narrow walls.
My flight to Lima doesn't include any sexy Costa Ricans this time, but
that
helps me to focus on the trip at hand. I'm going with GAP this
time, which specializes in small group adventure tours, so I have a very
packed
two weeks coming up.
