BIRTHPLACE OF ZORRO
In El Fuerte, we stay at the Posada del Hidalgo. A former colonial mansion
built by Seņor Rafael Almada in 1890, it boasts some impressive gardens
and decorations, and is also the birthplace of Zorro. The complimentary
margaritas here are much better than those in Creel. I also discover
a liking for Dos Equis.
Essentially a costal town, El Fuerte is hot and humid this time of year.
I take some photos inside the former mansion, both in color
and black & white.
During
the short bus drive the previous night, I see several sites I want
to photograph the following day but when the day comes, nothing looks
interesting.
In the morning we take a river float trip looking for birds. Everyone
is covered in insect repellent as mosquitoes are prevalent. I don't wear
any as
they have never shown any interest in me and continue not to. Seated
along
the rear of the boat, I attempt to photograph
some
of the birds while also maintaining by balance. Fortunately there is
a birder among my group,
saving me from having to also try to read the provided pamphlet.
