BALLET FOLKLORICO
Before dinner our last night in El Fuerte, we are treated to a ballet
folklorico. I attempt to take some
photos
but
the light is dim and I have to compete with other flashes. I try never
to use flash, but sometimes
you have to. There are four women and four men, who perform two different
styles of dance. My favorite dancer is Lupita, who starts out in
orange and then switches to blue. Near
the end of the
second dance, each of the female dancers takes the sombrero from their
male partner and selects a man from the audience to come dance with
them. Araceli, the dancer in red, chooses me. To my knowledge no
photos exist of this.
It is an early morning to catch the return train, this time ending in
Barrancas, just south of Creel. I don't take any photos on the return
trip, though I do watch the guards that periodically pass through our
car, with either a pistol on their side or an automatic rifle on their
back. They sit in the back of the car and occasionally walk up and down
the aisle.
We arrive at our destination in the early afternoon. Our hotel, the
Posada Barrancas Mirador,
is situated on the rim of the canyon and the
views are breathtaking. Once
we get
settled in and have our complimentary margarita, I decide it's time to
stretch my legs and go for a hike.
