WORK AND RAIN
As this is essentially a business trip, the morning finds me off to the Instituto de Cultura y Lengua Costarricense, or ICLC for short. After our first workshop I take a few photos
of the rolling campus, which is quite nice. After our second workshop I note the dark clouds growing, which are soon followed by rain. Lots of rain. Lunch was to be followed by a tour of Grecia, but the rain and wind are too strong and we hold up in the restaurant until our host families arrive to take us home.
I learn upon my return that it is their son's birthday, so we celebrate by playing video games for a few hours (I don't understand any of the instructions--I just wing it and continuously look for patterns of right and wrong behavior) and then we have pizza and cola. Feeling bad about not having a gift, I quick draw him a cartoon of himself that he seems to really like. Good thing for simple pleasures.
After he's gone to bed, I find myself tutoring the mother in mathematics, ranging from beginning algebra to trigonometry. It is very interesting trying to explain how to factor using my broken Spanish, but we seem to do pretty well.
