GOING AND COMING

While we begin on side streets, we soon find ourselves in the main part of town. Antigua is an odd mix of restored colonial architecture and ruins. In other words, my kind of place. As we wander about, taking in the sights and popping into the occasional shop, I take some more color and black & white photos.

We continue to explore the city as we wander back toward our hotel. The route we are taking passes several churches, so I have no complaints. We do divert from our course to find the hotel Claudine will be transferring to as she is going to be spending a few extra days in Antigua to take a cooking class and climb a volcano. Lucky girl. Back at the hotel, I take a few last photos before our farewell dinner followed by a few drinks.

In the morning it's back to the airport to return for a few days at home before setting off again. If I had to do it all again, I would have stayed a few more days in Antigua, then spent a few days at my cousin's house in Costa Rica before heading up to Alajuela and the institute that I will be visiting. As it turns out though, it was advantageous for me to be home when I was.
