MONOLITHS AND MOSQUITOS
In the morning we head back south, for our final destination: Antigua. First, we stop in Quiriguá, home to many zoomorphic figures
and the world's tallest stelae,
which record Mayan history. At the rear of the complex is a small Acropolis,
worthy of exploration. Hot, humid, and swarming with mosquitos, I'm ready to go before I normally would be. That said, I can't resist two creative shots
on my way out.
Our last long travel day passes much quicker than the previous ones and we find ourselves at our hotel at a decent hour. Like much of Antigua, it is colonial in style, so I pass some time before dinner taking a few photos
and familiarizing myself with the grounds. Claudine thinks her room might be haunted, but I get no such sense from my room.
In the morning we head to the Museo del Cafe. Not too interested in an elaborate explanation of the history and processing of coffee, I break off from the group to take some photos,
mostly in black & white for some reason. Must be inspired by the dark roasts.
