A SLOW START
In the morning we visit the Ixchel Musuem, named after the Maya goddess of fertility and weaving. No photos are allowed in the museum, so I explore a bit of its outskirts.
Behind the museum, after a ramp and a ladder, is a narrow trail, but it is rather steep and it is raining, so I decide to leave it unexplored.
The hotel we are staying at is stunning, though the city itself is very utilitarian. I do explore the shopping center beneath the hotel. The day before, also exploring a bit of the mall, I somehow end up ordering two lunches. Either my Spanish is worse than I thought or I looked really hungry. I'm going to go with the former. There is also a store where you can by firearms, which fascinates me. I do find the selection of Buddhist statues in another store quite interesting, though I am assuming they are for tourists.
Back in the room, somewhat sleep deprived and a little restless, I pass some time trying to take some creative shots through my door's peephole.
In all it has been a rather slow start, but I really can use some down time, so I read and listen to some music. I also can't resist watching Preditor dubbed in Spanish.
