DOMESTIC IN DUBROVNIK
Our flight is uneventful and we arrive in Dubrovnik in the early afternoon. Once at baggage claim, I give Boris, our apartment owner, a call and he explains to a cab driver how to find his place. The road from the airport to Dubrovnik is along the coast and I can say that the Croatian coast, at least in the south, is simply stunning. The landscape is lush with isolated coves enhanced with azure waters and sandy beaches.
Our apartment is quite nice, with a separate kitchen and bathroom. The idea of renting an apartment for the week is that we can make our own breakfast in the mornings and cook the occasional dinner. And we have a garden terrace overlooking the Adriatic Sea where we can eat our meals, should we choose.
Once settled, we head into the old town for dinner. Everywhere seems to be pizza, pasta, or seafood, which is not surprising as this area was under Venetian rule for centuries. We also look to find a market for provisions for the week. Along the way I take my first few Dubrovnik photos.
We’ll have plenty of time to explore the area more fully in the coming days.
